About This Item

Full Description

A pilot cooling tower apparatus which closely simulates the operations of a typical light industrial cooling water system and a heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning system (HVAC) was setup to study the scaling of heat transfer tubes in the presence of 0.1 ppm of ozone concentration. A total of 5 experimental runs were made with run-time ranging from 432 to 1800 hours.

It was determined that ozone does not have much effect on the scaling behavior of heat exchanger copper tubes. The traditional forces that cause scaling are still the dominant factors regardless of whether ozone is present or not.
