About This Item

Full Description

Two different cost models are described. One of the utilizes discrete costs for seven major components with all other costs being parameterized based on nominal capacity and/or physical size using regression analysis techniques. The other model is described as fully parameterized, and allows for component descriptions as inputs. Both models are setup in a spreadsheet format microcomputer application.

The methodology used in generating the models is described. Possible uses and modifications depending on user needs are discussed. The costs generated by the models are compared with actual costs with excellent agreement.

It is concluded that the use of the cost. model coupled with existing performance models can be a valuable aid to the equipment. design engineer.
