Describes a method developed to determine the effects of fin spacing, coil depth, face velocity and fan type on the frosting of evaporators, using computer-simulated evaporator and condensing unit characteristics. Notes a study made to illustrate the use of the method and to assess the effects on heat pump performance under frosting conditions.
