RP-578 -- Determination of Window System U-Values for the Handbook of Fundamentals

This research project was initiated in September 1991. The goal of the project was to provide better information on U-factors of window framing systems. The scope of work called for the testing by two laboratories and simulation using two computer programs of five window systems. If the simulation results were within the experimental accuracy of the test facilities, the simulation procedure(s) would be deemed to be sufficiently accurate to assess the U-factors for 50 window framing systems. The objective was to have as much of this work as possible done for inclusion in the 1993 ASHRAE Handbook of Fundamentals.
