About This Item

Full Description

Intent.1

The intent of this test is to mechanically stress the interconnecting-device-to-fiber-optic-cable-joint in tension. The results of this test provide an indication as to the relative strength of the cable-to-intercnnecting device joint and may also indicate degradation resulting from prior environmental exposure.

Failure Modes. Potential failure modes for this test includ, but are not limited to:

a. Cable Jacket Damage,

b.Fiber breakage or damage,

c. cable clamp failure,

d. Loss of optical continuity,

f. Failure of fiber-terminus relative to interconnecting device.

g. Cable seal damage.

h. Excessive movement of cable/terminus relative to interconnecting device,

i. Degradation of cable.connector optical trasmission characteristics.

1 This method is similar to Method 2009.1 of MIL-STD-1344A.
