AMS5880E has been declared "STABILIZED" and will no longer be subjected to periodic reviews for currency. Users are responsible for verifying references and continued suitability of technical requirements. New technology may exist. The last technical update of this document occured in May, 2006. Users of this document should refer any certification issues (e.g. exceptions listed on the certification report) to the congnizant engineering organization for their disposition. This specification covers a corrosion-resistant steel in the form of bars, wire, forgings, and forging stock.

These products have been used typically for anti-friction bearing parts requiring resistance to both corrosion and wear with hardness usually not lower than 58 HRC after hardening and tempering, but usage is not limited to such applications.
