NFPA 1925 contains updated requirements for marine fire-fighting vessels, including rigid hull inflatable boats and special purpose vessels, used as fireboats based on pumping capacity and identified ancillary equipment. It defines three classes of fire fighting vessels and specifies:

• Main propulsion
• Auxiliary engines
• Machinery and systems
• Electrical systems
• Fire-fighting pumps and monitors
• Foam systems
• Vessel fire protection
• Fire-fighting equipment
• Life-saving and rescue equipment
• Testing and commissioning vessels and equipment
• Plus other related information

The 2004 edition contains revised requirements for marine fire-fighting vessels that reflect recent design innovations. Also updated to conform to NFPA's Manual of Style.
