Compared in this paper are the performance characteristics of the three different types of fansavailable for Variable Air Volume Systems. They are the airfoil centrifugal, forward curvedcentrifugal and adjustable pitch vaneaxial. Presented are recent test data of sound and horsepowercharacteristics, at reduced airflow, for the airfoil and axial designs. The forward curved fan wasnot tested but performance data which were submitted by Bill Ostrander, a member of TC 6.2 areincluded.
