Scope

This recommended practice provides installation design, installation, maintenance and testing procedures, and test schedules that can be used to optimize the life and performance of vented nickel-cadmium batteries. It also provides guidance for determining when these batteries should be replaced. (Scope unchanged from previous version.)

Purpose

The document should be revised to reflect the latest thinking on maintenance of these batteries, and to resolve issues regarding the capacity calculation method.

Abstract

Revision Standard - Superseded. This recommended practice provides recommendations for installation design and for installation, maintenance, and testing procedures that can be used to optimize the life and performance of vented nickel-cadmium batteries used in stationary standby applications.
