About This Item

Full Description

The Washington State University (North Puget Sound, Everett) project incorporated an all-electric heat pump plant well in advance of the technology’s recent popularity. The most remarkable features of the building are a well-insulated and tight envelope with optimal solar orientation and façade-specific shading, a cantilevered wood feature stair, mixed-mode ventilation cooling in the multi-story atrium, a 78-kW photovoltaic array, rainwater storage and a small on-premises data center supporting three different modes of heat recovery.
