Full Description

The Temperature-Difference Method (T.D. method) is one of two general approaches to balancingthe water flow to hydronic coils. By this method, the "design" or desired water flow is obtainedby adjustment of manual valves such that an appropriate water temperature difference isobserved. It is generally recommended that the "air side" of the system be balanced prior tothe application of this method for balancing the "water side." It is mandatory that water flowcontrol valves be in the wide-open position throughout the water balancing operation.

Based on an analysis provided in the paper, a general procedure can be visualized for adjusting water flow to the coil to the design quantity regardless of the magnitude of the imposed load.
