Full Description

The purpose of the present paper is to: (a) examine and quantify analytically, by means of heat transfer theory and cylindrical and spherical models, the nature of formerly obscure patterns of aerodynamic laminar flow over the nude body of man in his customary resting-sedentary states of sitting, reclining and standing in low-velocity environments; (b) disclose the true parameter of the mean convection coefficient in the abstruse mixed convection regime previously unrecognized in physiology; (c) if possible, find (by comparison of theory with existing physiological experiments) a single geometric model that uniquely represents the whole human body in respect of the above described condition; (d) verify (or negate) the a priori postulate that the mean convection coefficent is essentially constant in certain environmental ranges for the sitting, reclining and standing nude man.
