Full Description

Preface:

This is the second edition of CAN/CSA-C88.1, Standard for power transformer and reactor bushings. It supersedes the previous edition published in 1996.

In addition to general updating, this edition of the Standard includes the following key revisions:
a) Reference publications and definitions have been expanded and updated.
b) Voltage classifications were updated to reflect currently accepted values.
c) The partial discharge measurement and dry 1 min low-frequency withstand test values were updated.

This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group.

Scope:

1.1
This Standard applies to outdoor bushings that have lightning impulse insulation levels 110 – 1950 kV. They are for use as components of liquid-filled transformers and reactors on systems with a nominal voltage of 15–765 kV.

1.2
This Standard provides electrical characteristics and provides dimensions for standard ratings.

1.3
This Standard defines service conditions, ratings, general requirements, and test procedures.

1.4
The values given in SI units are the units of record for the purposes of this Standard. The values given in parentheses are for information and comparison only.

1.5
In this Standard, "shall" is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; "should" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and "may" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the Standard. Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material. Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements. Annexes are designated normative (mandatory) or informative (non-mandatory) to define their application.
