This is the first edition of CAN/CSA-C62155, Hollow pressurized and unpressurized ceramic and glass insulators for use in electrical equipment with rated voltages greater than 1 000 V, which is an adoption, with Canadian deviations, of the identically titled CEI/IEC (Commission Electrotechnique Internationale/International Electrotechnical Commission) Standard 62155 (first edition, 2003-05). It replaces CAN/CSA-C1264-99, Ceramic pressurized hollow insulators for high-voltage switchgear and controlgear (adopted CEI/IEC 1264:1994).
This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group.
Scope and object
This standard is applicable to
- ceramic and glass hollow insulators intended for general use in electrical equipment;
- ceramic hollow insulators intended for use with a permanent gas pressure in switchgear and controlgear.
The hollow insulators are intended for use in electrical equipment, for example:
- earthing switches
- instrument transformers
- surge arresters
- cable sealing ends
1.2 Hollow insulators or hollow insulator bodies intended for general use
Hollow insulators or insulator bodies of ceramic material or glass, intended for use
- without pressure
- with permanent pressure .50 kPa gauge
- with permanent gas pressure >50 kPa gauge in combination with an internal volume < 1 l (1 000 cm3) - with permanent hydraulic pressure.
