B64.0-01 1.

Scope 1.1 Vacuum breakers and backflow preventers that are specified in the B64 Series of CSA Standards include only those devices that are designed for use in potable water supply systems to prevent cross

1.2 This Standard provides definitions, general requirements, test methods, marking, and instructions that are common to some or all of the B64 Series of CSA Standards.

1.3 This Standard is not a complete Standard in itself and is intended to be used in conjunction with one of the other Standards in the B64 Series of CSA Standards to form a complete Standard for a particular type of vacuum breaker or backflow preventer.

1.4 In this Standard, #shall# is used to express a requirement, i.e., a pro vision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; #should# is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and #may# is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the standard.

Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material.

Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements.

Legends to equations and figures are considered requirements.

1.5 This Standard is written in SI (metric) units; for conversion tables, see Appendix A.

Vacuum is expressed in pressure below ambient.

All pipe sizes are shown as nominal pipe sizes (NPS).

B64.1.1-01 1.

Scope This Standard applies to vacuum breakers of the atmospheric type (AVB).

B64.1.2-01 1.

Scope This Standard applies to vacuum breaker assemblies of the pressure type (PVB).

B64.2-01 1.

Scope This Standard applies to vacuum breakers of the hose connection type (HCVB). CSA Standards B64.2.1 and B64.2.1.1 provide re quirements for HCVB devices incorporating a manual draining feature.

CSA Standard B64.2.2 provides requirements for HCVB devices incorporating an automatic draining feature.

B64.2.1-01 1.

Scope This Standard applies to vacuum breakers of the hose connection type (HCVB) that incorporate a draining feature requiring manual operation.

B64.1.1-01 1.

Scope This Standard applies to vacuum breakers of the hose connection type that have two checks (HCDVB) and that incorporate a draining feature that requires a manual operation. The second (downstream) check is field-testable.

B64.2.2-01 1.

Scope This Standard applies to vacuum breakers of the hose connection type (HCVB) that incorporate an automatic draining feature that does not require manual operation.

B64.3-01 1.

Scope This Standard applies to backflow preventers of the dual check valve type with atmospheric port (DCAP).

B64.3.1-01 1.

Scope This Standard applies to backflow preventers of the dual check valve type with atmospheric port for carbonators (DCAPC).

B64.4-01 1.

Scope This Standard applies to backflow preventer assemblies of the reduced pressure principle type (RP).

B64.4.1-01 1.

Scope This Standard applies to backflow preventer assemblies of the reduced pressure principle type that are specifically designed for use in fire protection systems (RPF).

B64.5-01 1.

Scope This Standard applies to backflow preventer assemblies of the double check valve type (DCVA).

B64.5.1-01 1.

Scope This Standard applies to backflow preventer assemblies of the double check valve type that are specifically designed for use in fire protection systems (DCVAF).

B64.6-01 1.

Scope This Standard applies to backflow preventers of the dual check valve type (DuC).

B64.6.1-01 1.

Scope This Standard applies to backflow preventers of the dual check valve type that are specifically designed for use in fire protection systems (DuCF).

B64.7-01 1.

Scope

1.1 This Standard applies to vacuum breakers for use on laboratory faucets (LFVB).

1.2 Laboratory faucet vacuum breakers are installed on the discharge side of the last control valve and are not intended for use u nder constant pressure conditions.

B64.8.-01 1.

Scope This Standard applies to backflow preventers of the dual check valve type with an intermediate vent (DuCV).

These devices are designed to be used on individual outlets or appliances with flow rates of 0.25 L/s or less.

B64.9-01 1.

Scope This Standard applies to backflow preventer assemblies of the single check valve type that are specifically designed for use in fire protection systems (SCVAF).
