This method describes a procedure for sampling soaps, synthetic detergents, and related materials that are in bar or cake form.

The importance of careful sampling of materials for analysis cannot be overemphasized and the procedures described should be followed as minimum requirements. Careful sampling should be co-ordinated with careful handling and preperation of the materials in the laboratory.

The testing and evaluation of a product against this method may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous.
