Since the introduction of the compressor the HVAC industry has had to copewith oil in refrigeration systems. Methods have been devised to manage theoil and minimize the loss in performance due to its presence, and eliminationof the oil from the system by use of oil separators is the primary methodof control. This paper explores the use of oil and oil management systems in compressors.
