Full Description

This slide presentation outlines the Community Case Study Pilot which examined and documented in detail 23 security and emergency preparedness practices currently used in the Seattle-King County region. The purpose was to: document current active and effective security and emergency practices related to a community's water sector (water and wastewater systems); results will serve as a reference to other communities seeking an active and effective security and emergency preparedness program; and, information serves as an example and should not be considered guidance. Key driver of the pilot study was the National Drinking Water Advisory Committee (NDWAC) recommendation of 14 features of an active and effective security program. Elements of the pilot study, types of practices that include collaborative, infrastructure, operational and organizational, attributes of a practice, practice examples, benefits of implementing practices, and community involvement are all outlined.
