Full Description

This paper is a contribution to the research and study on the influence of solar radiation on cooling loads; to determine this, one must consider the effect of storage of the building construction and know the distribution of solar radiative energy within the room. Measurements of the distribution for the accepted module of the room, representing the basic module, were carried out. On the basis of these measurements, distributions in the rooms consisting of more modules were also calculated. The distribution of absorbed energy was also determined for the average values of coefficients of absorption of floor and other surfaces. An attempt was made, based on several assumptions, to determine the influence of furniture in the room on the distribution of energy.

It is established that the distribution of solar radiation has its own rules and that is changes if the room is enlarged only up to a width of 12 m. Determined values of absorbed energy of solar radiation, which are given in the paper, can be used in calculating cooling loads and in the design of passive solar systems but only in the cases of equal values of the coefficients of absorption, as in the room adopted as the basic module.
