Full Description

The paper describes several experiments which have been run in an attempt to determine equivalent thermal properties for wall sections containing air cavities. Equivalent thermal conductivity and diffusivity were determined by system identification techniques in a transient experiment. The equivalent thermal conductivity was also obtained by a steady state experiment. The two results are compared, and the results indicate that the concept of using equivalent thermal properties to describe building sections with air cavities is quite promising.
