Full Description

This standard provides design criteria for systems and equipment necessary for the performance of those nuclear safety functions that are required to achieve and maintain a safe shutdown of the reactor to cold shutdown conditions from a hot standby or post accident1 condition. The following nuclear safety functions are addressed in this standard: (1) Reactivity control; (2) Reactor coolant system heat removal; (3) Reactor coolant system integrity: (a) Pressure control, and(b) Inventory control. The standard provides criteria for the design of systems used to accomplish these functions.
