Full Description

The multi-variable problem that is associated with the performance prediction of a compression-enhanced ejector refrigeration system is reduced to a set of two working graphs. One represents the interrelations between the compression and ejector subcycles, and the other describes the characteristics of the ejector performance. Such presentation provides a quick and simple method of evaluating the performance of the compression-enhanced ejector system operating at various conditions. Following some introductory remarks in which the compression-enhanced ejector system is presented, the methodology and reasoning leading to the development of the performance curve are given. An illustrative example is given in which these curves, together with the appropriate relations, are used to fully characterise the compression-enhanced ejector refrigeration system. While this work deals with specified system configuration, referred to as the reference system, it is nevertheless general enough to include a vast variety of actual design requirements. With appropriate modification, the methodology presented here can be extended to configurations of other systems and to different refrigerants. Step-by-step instructions for an actual design procedure, which are then illustrated by a numerical example, are given.
