Full Description

The high energy consumption required by air dehumidification operations has suggested the research of new techniques with higher energy efficiency and cost savings.

In this paper the air-air heat pump system and the sorption systems are compared with the proposed new MIDA process.

The MIDA results from the combination of an absorption dehumidification with a water LiCl solution, achieved at constant or rising air temperature, and a heat pump cycle. The last one removes heat from the absorber to the solution regenerator, which operates under vacuum.

The comparison with the present better energy-saving technologies for dehumidification validates the proposed system with the possibility of a substantial reduction of operational costs.
