About This Item
Full Description
Regarding the problem of speed optimization of parallelconnected variable-speed pumps (VSPs) in a closed-loop water circulating system, this research develops a characteristic model of the VSPs. It is proved that the similarity working condition (SWC) of each pump does not change when the speed of the parallel-connected VSPs adjust proportionally. The analytical expression of the eigenvalues for the SWCs of centrifugal pumps is derived, implying that the total power consumption of parallel-connected VSPs is minimized when all the parallel-connectedVSPskeep the sameSWCeigenvalue during the regulating process. Based on this, the optimal speed ratio of parallel-connected VSPs is also derived analytically, which provides theoretical support to the speed optimization of the parallel-connected VSP system and could be applied to both identical and nonidentical parallel-connected VSPs.
