Full Description

Handling humidity in electronics is a major issue for device integrity. The current mitigation approach is either energy-intensive or passive. Water vapor-selective membranes are emerging materials for dehumidification in HVAC applications and could potentially be applied in electronics humidity management, in which, no research has been done. A novel membrane dehumidification concept for electronic enclosures was developed with mass transfer models. A prototype was manufactured and tested in various ambient conditions to compare simulation results from models. Initial results show the prototype could deliver a high humidity removal rate and the mass transfer model has accurate predictions.
