About This Item

Full Description

More than 3% of U.S energy consumption and 9% of peak power demand can be attributed to ventilation loads. Ventilation rates are set based on floor area and occupancy according to recommendations in codes and standards such as ASHRAE 62.1. However, for zones with large fluctuations in occupancy such as lecture halls, allocating air at the maximum prescribed rate could lead to unnecessary energy consumption and emissions. Instead of operating ventilation systems at their maximum prescribed rates at all times, many buildings automation systems consider some type of dynamic control.
