This paper discusses a new method of chemical filter media rehabilitation, which combines efficiency, ease of application and short filter downtime, and has been applied at multiple sites throughout the country. Treatment procedures were customized based on laboratory testing of media samples. Filter media treatment was completed within 24 hours in most cases. The method proved to be effective against manganese, iron, calcium carbonate and bacterial slime deposits. Includes figures.
