Full Description

The main objective of this paper was to evaluate the thermodynamic and economic potential of the use of a complex hybrid combined heat and power (CHP) system based on the gas engine, fueled with synthetic natural gas (SNG), produced with the use of electrolyzers (operating with the excess electricity from renewable energy sources) and oxygen gasification of solid fuels as a source of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide for the methanation process. The simplified models of all the installations were build that served as an input to economic analysis. Also, sensitivity analysis of the influence of the investment costs and operational costs on the break-even price of electricity was made.
