THE KINEMATIC CONDITION FOR CHIP BREAKING, AS WELL AS THE EFFECT OF CONTROLLED TOOL OSCILLATION ON THE ROUGHNESS OF THE MACHINED SURFACE AND THE PROGRESS OF WEAR OF THE CUTTING TOOL, HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATED. BASED ON THE ROUGHNESS OF THE MACHINED SURFACE, THE OPTIMAL TOOL OSCILLATION AMPLITUDE HAS BEEN FOUND.
