Seattle's Stack House Apartments are among the most energy efficient in the Pacific Northwest. The project uses an innovative heat pump water heating system set up to reclaim heat from the below-grade parking garage. The measured EUIs are 19.8 kBtu/ft2·yr (224.9 MJ/m2·yr) for one building and 27.1 kBtu/ft2·yr (307.8 MJ/m2·yr) for the other.
