About This Item

Full Description

While there has been considerable work on simulation analysis of thermal storage, there has been relatively little reported work on implementations in real buildings. In some of the limited documented field testing, the results have been inconclusive due to inappropriate building thermal characteristics or non-optimal operating strategies and control equipment. The most recent work on appropriate building characteristics and control strategies suggests that further fieldwork is required. Results from this project should lead to fundamental changes in the manner in which buildings are controlled and would be integrated into the next ASHRAE Applications Handbook.
