About This Item

Full Description

Because variable-frequency drives (VFDs) adjust boththe output frequency and the voltage to their connected motors, the motor efficiency with a VFD is mathematically determined by motor loads, frequency, and voltage. Several researchers have discovered that not only motor load but also VFD output frequency affects motor efficiency. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of VFD output voltage on motor efficiency by measuring the motor efficiency under various voltages. The experiment results show that the voltage also impacts the motor efficiency and the manufacturer motor efficiency data cannot be applied to the motors with VFDs.
