This collection contains 16 published papers that describe research investigating system efficiencies using parallel and series fan-powered variable-air-volume (VAV) terminal units. Descriptions of the findings from ASHRAE Research Project RP-1292 are described in the first six papers; additional research was undertaken to evaluate motor types and their associated effects in both terminal unit designs, which is covered in subsequent papers. Some of the latter papers also include research on energy modeling and how to get the research data into a format that programs such as the U.S. Department of Energy's EnergyPlus and other proprietary models can use.
