Polymer producers are often asked "What is new in thermoplastic materials? What can people in our industries expect in new processing techniques during the next few years?" Messrs. West and Berg have already addressed themselves to the question of how material and processing innovations come about; but let me begin by giving a brief review of the polymer industry.
