The role of the architect in cleanroom facilities design has changed in both the opportunities for our services as well as design expression. In the past when it came to design of many cleanroom facilities, the architect was asked to just put a tight and cost-effective (a.k.a. cheap) skin around a big mechanical system to power the cleanroom that was buried deep within the structure. As this industry has matured and prospered, the awareness of good design and quality of the work environment has grown. This trend should continue as the next generation of cleanrooms begin to be designed and the world labor market tightens for the very best talent.
