About This Item

Full Description

Scope

This standard establishes terms and definitions essential for biometric liveness detection, describes the characteristics of liveness detection, with analysis on the types of liveness attack method/instrument (LAI), liveness attack detection method, liveness attack subverter and so on. This document also defines liveness attack detection process and metrics. In addition, this document specifies biometric modality based liveness attack detection including scenario, LAIs, obscuration, and recommended solutions.

Purpose

This standard provides a foundation for biometric liveness attack detection through which liveness attacks can be specified, detected and subsequently categorized and analyzed for the whole biometric system performance.

Abstract

New IEEE Standard - Active - Draft. Biometric lifeless attack is one of the indispensable issue within biometric authentication. There are 3 major components in liveness detection system: lifeless attack presentation, liveness detection, and lifeless attack instrument. The lifeless attack presentation is divided into artifact presentation and human-based presentation. The liveness detection method include subject-based solution and scenario-based solution, as well as other attributes such as decision elements, detection patterns and implementations. The lifeless attack instrument is specified from aspects such as production elements, production types of artifacts, efficacy and so on. This document establishes terms and definitions in the field of biometric liveness detection, identifies characterization of lifeless attack and liveness detection method, with analysis on lifeless attack instruments. In addition, this document specifies liveness detection process, implementation model and metrics.
