Full Description

Scope

This standard sets forth uniform methods of measurement of radio-frequency (RF) signals and noise emitted from both unintentional and intentional emitters of RF energy in the frequency range 9 kHz to 40 GHz. Methods for the measurement of radiated and ac powerline conducted radio noise are covered and may be applied to any such equipment unless otherwise specified by individual equipment requirements. These methods cover measurement of certain devices that deliberately radiate energy, such as intentional emitters, but does not cover licensed transmitters. This standard is not intended for certification/approval of avionic equipment or for industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) equipment. These methods apply to the measurement of individual units or systems comprised of multiple units. Additional methods may be added to this standard to fulfilll future requirements as needed. The methods used for validation of test sites, such as open area sites and absorber-lined rooms for frequencies in the range of 30 to 1000 MHz, are contained in this standard. Further work on absorber-lined room validation is under consideration. An effort has been made, wherever possible, to harmonize the measurement procedures contained herein with those in effect internationally.

Abstract

Revision Standard - Superseded. Uniform methods of measurement of radio noise emitted from low-voltage electrical and electronic equipment, including digital and other information technology equipment, in the frequency range of 9 kHz to 40 GHz are set forth. Both unintentional and certain intentional radiators are included. Methods for the measurement of radiated and powerline conducted radio noise are covered and may be applied to any such equipment unless otherwise specified by individual equipment requirements.
