Full Description

Scope

This standard describes qualification methods for Class 1E vented lead acid batteries and racks to be used in nuclear power generating stations outside primary containment. Qualification required by IEEE Std 308-20011 or IEEE Std 765-2002 can be demonstrated by using the procedures in this standard in accordance with IEEE Std 323-2003. Battery sizing, maintenance, capacity testing, installation, charging equipment, and consideration of other type batteries are beyond the scope of this standard.

Purpose

The revision will address issues raised on the testing process, provide clarified guidance on battery qualification and revise references from the 1986 issue of the standard.

Abstract

Revision Standard - Superseded. Qualification methods for Class 1E vented lead acid batteries and racks to be used in nuclear power generating stations outside primary containment are described in this standard. Remarks: Revision of EEE 535-1986
