Full Description

Describes a detailed and generalised simulation algorithm for evaluation of a room's thermal environment and the energy efficiency of radiant cooling systems. The algorithm was developed from a simulation model called the linear subsystem model, in which the sensible and latent heat balances of a room with radiant panel system are expressed by three linear equations for the temperature and humidity of room air and the panel inlet water temperature. Using the heat balance equations obtained for the simulation algorithm, the relationship between the room air temperature and the average surface temperature is discussed, and it is theoretically shown that the room air temperature is almost equal to the average room surface temperature for rooms with radiant cooling or heating systems. In addition, six simulations of an office room with radiant cooling systems are described, and the thermal environment and energy efficiency are discussed.
