Full Description

High velocity flat-oval duct air distribution systems are frequently used where design considerations allow only limited space for the system within a building. In the past, engineers have relied on pressure loss data for round or rectangular fittings as, there has been no published data available for flat-oval fittings. For this reason ASHRAE Technical Committee 5.2, Duct Design, initiated RP-79 to experimentally determine pressure loss in flat-oval duct and fittings at velocities up to 12,000 fpm. The results obtained for straight duct have been presented previously. This paper will present the results from tests of elbows and branch fittings.
