Section 9 in Standard 189.1 addresses the building's impact on the atmosphere, materials, and resources. Building material choices can have widespread impacts on the atmosphere and natural resources from the origin of the material components to the end of a product’s useful life. The activities associated with these choices may contribute to pollution, habitat destruction, natural resource depletion and unnecessary growth of landfills.
