Full Description

Presents a design analysis of the diffusion-absorption (DA) technology for use as a hotel room air conditioner. States DA technology is based on the Platen-Munters cycle and is currently manufactured internationally as hotel room and recreational vehicle refrigerators. The unique features of the technology are that it can be gas-fired with no electric input required and machines based on a DA cycle are essentially quiet, making it desirable for hotel rooms. Uses a computer model developed to simulate the DA cycle as a basis for a feasibility study of the DA cycle in the hotel room air conditioning application. Notes an economic penalty which may be compensated for by the drastically reduced noise level compared to a vapour compression system.
