Reports briefly on the history behind the setting-up of a Presidential Committee on Energy Consumption, and this committee's formation of a Task Group on Load Profiles, renamed in 1966, Task Group on Energy Requirements. In 1974 the Task Group became the Technical Committee 4.7 Energy Calculations (TC 4.7). Describes ASHRAE's development of computerised energy calculations for buildings. Covers development of procedures, and field verification methods.
