Scope

This Particular International Standard specifies the particular safety requirements for EXTERNAL PACEMAKERS as defined in 2.1.101, hereinafter referred to as EQUIPMENT, powered by an INTERNAL ELECTRICAL POWER SOURCE.

This Standard applies to PATIENT CABLES as defined in 2.1.104.

This Standard does not apply to EQUIPMENT which can be directly or indirectly connected to a SUPPLY MAINS.

This Standard does not apply to pacing LEADS, or other equipment for cardiac stimulation which either: (1) forms an integral part of equipment with other functions; or (2) applies the stimulus across the thorax externally or in the oesophagus; or (3) provides antitachycardia therapy beyond high rate burst pacing; or (4) provides pacing system analysis functions.

Each of the two channels of DUAL CHAMBER EQUIPMENT is subject to the requirements of this Standard. /

La presente Norme Particuliere internationale specifie les regles par ticulieres de securite des STIMULATEURS EXTERNES definis en 2.1.101, designes ci-apres par le terme APPAREIL, qui sont alimentes par une SOURCE ELECTRONIQUE INTERNE.

La presente Norme s'applique aux CABLES PATIENT definis en 2.1.104.

La presente Norme ne s'applique pas aux APPAREILS qui peuvent etre directement ou indirectement relies a un RESEAU D'ALIMENTATION.

La presente Norme ne s'applique pas aux CONDUCTEURS de stimulation ni a un appareil de stimulation cardiaque qui: (1) fait partie integrante d'un tout avec d'autres fonctions, ou (2) applique le stimulus a travers le thorax de facon externe ou dans l'oesophage, ou (3) fournit une therapie contre la tachycardie en dehors de la stimulation par des rafales a haute frequence, ou (4) remplit des fonctions d'analyse du systeme de stimulation.

Chacun des deux circuits d'un APPAREIL a DOUBLE CHAMBRE est soumis aux prescriptions de la presente Norme.
