1. Scope

1.1

This Standard applies to spas, hot tubs, and associated equipment intended to be permanently connected to supply circuits with voltages of 250 V and less (150 volts-to-ground), for use indoors or outdoors in nonhazardous locations in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.

1.2

Clauses 1 to 6 apply to spas and hot tubs and Clauses 7 and 8 apply to associated equipment as follows: (a) Clause 7 - remote packaged units for use with spas and hot tubs; and (b) Clause 8 - lighting equipment provided as an integral part of a spa or hot tub.

1.3

This Standard does not apply to (a) cord- and plug-connected spas, hot tubs, and associated equipment; (b) hydromassage bathtubs covered in CSA Standard C22.2 No. 218.2; (c) portable hydromassage units covered in CSA Standard No. C22.2 No. 218.3; (d) heated bathtubs; (e) hydrotherapy bathtubs or units; and (f) swimming pool heaters. These Standards are being prepared by the Subcommittee and have not been published at the time of printing.
