About This Item

Full Description

Instructions for radiographic inspection are usually provided by the aircraft or component manufacturer as part of their scheduled inspection, maintenance or overhaul manual or as part of an Airworthiness Directive, Alert Service Bulletin, Service Bulletin, Service Letter or similar document. When such instructions are provided they shall have priority over this standard. When no such instructions exist, this standard shall apply.

Radiographic techniques shall be developed and approved by a person holding valid certification to Level II or Level III of CGSB standard 48-GP-4, aircraft structures category, or any similar certification acceptable to the civil airworthiness authority. These radiographic techniques shall be carefully documented to enable other radiographers to obtain comparable results.

This standard shall only apply to those radiographic inspections in which industrial radiographic film is used as the recording medium.

This standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. This document does not purport to address all the safety aspects associated with its use. Anyone using this standard has the responsibility to consult the appropriate authorities and to establish appropriate health and safety practices in conjunction with any existing applicable regulatory requirements prior to its use.
