Building information modeling (BIM) is gaining considerable momentum as the technology evolves and greater interoperability occurs between disparate software systems. The rapidly emerging goals of green building/sustainable design, towards net zero-energy buildings, coupled with goals for carbon dioxide emissions reduction, requires whole building, fully integrated design and construction as a dynamic process. This article shows how BIM can provide that integration.
