PeaceHealth Peace Island Medical Center in Friday Harbor, Wash., is located on an island with limited resources, making sustainable choices and a simple system design critical. Using the Living Building Challenge and LEED building rating system as road maps meant that many design alternatives were considered for lighting, HVAC systems, water use, and plug loads. Its site-specific design solutions provide essential learnings for similar future projects.
