Applies to slings and sling assemblies having single-part or double-part sling legs manufactured from wire ropes of nominal diameters from 8 to 60 mm. It specifies nominal size and effective length, materials, safe working load (lifting capacity), manufacture and testing. Information on types of slings, safe working loads of sling legs and sling assemblies, care in the storage and use of wire-rope slings, and application of the Standard by the Department of Defence are given in appendices.
