About This Item

Full Description

Describes a new fractional filtration efficiency laboratory test method developed for air cleaners used in general ventilation. The method covers the particle diameter size range from 0.3 to 10 micrometers, using an artificially-generated test aerosol and an optical particle counter to measure aerosol concentrations upstream and downstream of the test air cleaner. In a series of demonstration tests with three air cleaners, the fractional efficiency was repeatable to within two percentage points for all particle sizes.
